Human Resourse Management in Social Work Organizations

Description

The aim of the course is to provide knowledge and practical skills of human resource management following micro, mezzo, macro level. The students will analyze the possibilities of human resource to be used in the best way. As regards competencies students will be able to characterize role of social worker, to analyze importance of staffing, leadership, teambuilding, supervision in changing organization. Different methods of teaching learning will be used: cooperative learning, role plays, video, learning by participation, intervision, reflection, project method.

Aim of the course

The aim of the course is to provide knowledge and practical skills of human resource management and development with the focus on the importance of a collaborative organization culture in organizations that provide services of social work and currently undergo complex changes.

Prerequisites

Practical experience of working with organizations.

Assesment Criteria

Description of the case (report) (6000 words) revealing at least five features of an innovative and learning organization that result from cooperative culture. Description of the case (report) (6000 words) revealing at least five features of staff management, motivation and encouragement that stimulate innovations in a social service organization. Description of the case (report) (6000 words) revealing the features of organizing inner and external communication and presenting at least five outcomes of critical analysis that show social worker’s activity, innovativeness, and ability to cooperate. During the seminars, ability to analyse based on personal experience the leadership issues, and tensions occurring in groups and teams suggesting possible solutions; ability to recognize own and other’s emotional condition. During the seminars, ability to analyze based on personal experience communication behaviour in social service organization discussing at least one example of a successful case in conflict management, decision-making, positive communication, negotiations, dialogue, also an example of effective listening; ability to describe one’s and other’s ability to manage feeling and emotions. During a practical seminar/intervision, ability to present based on own experience of practical work at least one case of a supervision and/or cooperation which allows determining at least two directions for self-improvement.
