Workshop on Funding and Proposal Development

Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) Vytautas Kavolis Transdisciplinary Research Institute invites researchers to a workshop on developing a successful grant application for various funding programs.

About the workshop
The aim of this workshop is to assist researchers in the preparation of applications to public funding bodies. Topics to be covered:
- Studying your funding source;
- Reading guidance;
- ‘Excellent’ research;
- Developing the project plan and content;
- Developing a partnership and peer-to-peer support;
- Developing a cost structure;
- Knowledge exchange and impact
About the trainer. Dr Kemal Ahson has spent the last two decades in various roles in academia, government, and industry. Currently – split between London and Helsinki – he is the Managing Consultant of Lifeworld Ltd (www.lifeworld.info). On a practical level he has raised over €400 million through contracts and funding. His research interests include examining arts-based pedagogies, the public engagement and participation in science and technology, exploring the use of ‘space’ and ‘place’ in different economic contexts, doing ‘imagined geographies’ through travelling theories’, and the ‘radical otherness of children’. His PhD, from University College London (UCL), examined innovation in biotechnology – in economic, epistemological, geographical, and ontological terms.
