On Thursday, 22 January, at 3:30 p.m., screening of the film Bucha and a meeting with the film’s protagonist Konstantin Gudauskas will take place at VMU Senate Hall (S. Daukanto g. 28).

The event is organised by the Vytautas Magnus University Mariupol State University Centre, the Faculty of Humanities, and Konstantin Gudauskas – a citizen of Kazakhstan of Lithuanian origin who is taking part in the Lithuanian Language and Culture courses at the VMU Faculty of Humanities and who, while risking his own life, rescued hundreds of people from territories occupied by Russia.

The leading roles in the film Bucha are performed by the renowned Polish theatre and film actor Cezary Łukaszewicz and Ukrainian film star Viacheslav Dovzhenko. The film is directed by Stanislav Tiunov, with Oleksandr Shchur serving as producer and screenwriter.

The production and filming of the movie involved the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, the National Police of Ukraine, the Kyiv City Council, and the Kyiv Regional Military Administration.

This is the second time that Konstantin Gudauskas has participated in the Lithuanian language and culture courses organised by the VMU Faculty of Humanities and supported by the Education Exchanges Support Foundation. Although the Lithuanian language is not an easy one, he certainly does not lack determination. His lecturer, Laura Kamandulytė-Merfeldienė, is pleased that Konstantin already understands a great deal of Lithuanian and will soon be able to communicate in Lithuanian with his relatives living in Lithuania. While staying in Kaunas, Konstantin Gudauskas is not only studying but also actively organising charitable initiatives together with the volunteer organisations Bucha Help and Visi Išvien.

Please note that photo and/or video recording may take place during the event, and you may appear in photographs or video recordings that could be published in various media outlets.
