VMU Hosted RURD Project Partner Meeting in Kaunas

Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) one of the participants of the Erasmus+ CBHE Project “Role of Universities in the Regional Development” (RURD), hosted the meeting on March 13-16, 2022. At the meeting representatives of Regional Universities overviewed the ongoing phase of the Project, presented reports on the decisions made regarding update of university Strategic Plan, on the training process, LLL courses, discussed ongoing and future activities and university-municipality cooperation questions. Throughout the meeting presentations by various departments, organisations, institutions, and their activities, delegation visited various facilities of the University, the Academy campus.

The aim of the project is based on European experience to improve the role of regional HEI in the development of a region, to modernize Mission and Strategic Development Plan of regional Universities, increase cooperation between universities and local authorities to increase their capacity and enhance specification of each region.

In this project VMU assists to Batumi State Maritime Academy on project dissemination and exploitation. VMU joins working teams and participates in preparatory work for network plan, monitors the process, develops quality and monitoring plan, is involved in the creation of training kits, providing training, organizing, and hosting workshops and meetings for the regional universities of Georgia.

Regional Universities of Georgia and four European partners from Spain, Austria, Czech Republic, and Lithuania are participants of the Project. Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement are also involved in the RURD Project.
