“V2” Community Awards Return to VMU

343

The “V2” community awards are like a new beginning for the University celebrating the 100th anniversary of the University of Lithuania and the Year of Lithuanian Universities, reviving an old tradition. This awards evening is dedicated to community mobilisation and will also reward the most dedicated lecturers and students, the members of the university community who are full of new ideas, the most interesting events, the most active student organisations, etc. for their activities and achievements in 2021.

The awards evening is not only to award the winners’ statuettes, but also to celebrate the talents of VMU, so during the whole evening the Arts Centre’s collectives and the most talented students and their groups will give their performances and entertain the audience. This year’s awards evening will be a little different – focusing on the war in Ukraine and the people affected by it, who we support and want to stand with and include in our community.

“I am delighted that this event is returning to the University, especially at a time when we see the need to build and mobilise the VMU community, not only to commemorate the centenary of the University of Lithuania, but also to support Ukraine during such a difficult period. Throughout the event, we will encourage members of the community to support students who have suffered because of Russia’s military action in Ukraine”, Jūratė Vietaitė, one of the event organisers, shares her thoughts on the upcoming event.

VMU students will be invited to nominate and elect candidates for various nominations, of which there are many this year: “Lecturer of the Year’, “Event of the Year”, “Innovator of the Year”, “Polyglot of the Year”, etc.

You can nominate your preferred candidates for this year’s best candidates here until April 7, 2022.

The “V2” Awards Ceremony will take place on 26th of April, 2022, 6 p.m. (18 o’clock) at the VMU Great Hall (S. Daukanto str. 28, Kaunas).
