438

The “V2” community awards are like a new beginning for the University celebrating the 100th anniversary of the University of Lithuania and the Year of Lithuanian Universities, reviving an old tradition. This awards evening is dedicated to community mobilisation and will also reward the most dedicated lecturers and students, the members of the university community who are full of new ideas, the most interesting events, the most active student organisations, etc. for their activities and achievements in 2021. Nominations will be presented by well-known faces: from this year’s Dakar winners to the newly “baked” deans, from the volunteers of the year to the representatives of the alumni club, the celebration will be diverse and multifaceted.

The awards evening is not only to award the winners’ statuettes, but also to celebrate the talents of VMU, so during the whole evening, the Arts Centre’s collectives, Music Academy students will present their musical and dance performances and the audience will be entertained by the VMU Chamber Orchestra. This year’s awards evening will be a little different – focusing on the war in Ukraine and the people affected by it, who we support and want to stand with and include in our community, Yana Serbina, a student from Ukraine, will also give a performance and a piece by a Ukrainian composer.

“I am delighted that this event is returning to the University, especially at a time when we see the need to build and mobilise the VMU community, not only to commemorate the centenary of the University of Lithuania, but also to support Ukraine during such a difficult period,” shared her thoughts with the Vice-Rector for communication, assoc. prof.  Vilma Bijeikienė.

The “V2” Awards, which have become a tradition and are being revived this year, will determine who students consider most worthy of the Student Initiative of the Year, Event of the Year, Debut of the Year, and other nominations.

We invite the entire VMU community to forget their daily work for a while, relax and enjoy the fellowship. The “V2” Community Awards will take place on 26th April at 6 pm. VMU Great Hall (S. Daukanto str. 28).
