T4EU to Host Events on Writing Systems and Heritage in Sofia

Students and researchers interested in the intersections of writing systems, cultural heritage, and identity are invited to participate in an Transform4Europe (T4EU) event series, taking place on January 28–30 in Sofia, Bulgaria. Those wishing to participate are requested to apply online before 20 December.
The series will feature a matchmaking session and a roundtable discussion titled Letters, Heritage, Identities, along with a special workshop and a stakeholder challenge on The Glagolitic Alphabet – The Forgotten Alphabet of Europe. These activities are part of the T4EU initiatives in the field of Common Heritage and Multilingualism and Doctoral Education and Innovative Ecosystems.
The Letters, Heritage, Identities Roundtable will bring together young and experienced researchers dealing with matters related to cultural, linguistic, supranational, national, ethnic, etc. identities. Together, they will explore the ways arts and media in general (including literature, visual arts, social media, etc.) as well as historical and contemporary narratives shape perceptions of self and otherness.
The Matchmaking Talks sessions will bring together students, faculty, and researchers working on cultural heritage and innovation. Participants will be able to get to know each other further and to form collaborative teams for future projects in the field of history and heritage studies, cultural and media studies, literature, multilingualism, political studies, library and information studies and arts.
The Workshop will focus on the connections between writing systems, cultural heritage, and identity, examining the theme from various perspectives, including linguistics, history, cultural studies, and the arts and will have two strands. One of the strands is specially designed for students of arts and graphic design.
Together with the workshop, a Stakeholder Challenge will be held, in which students and young researchers from the partner universities will participate. This innovative challenge will directly connect the stakeholders with young people, to offer a concrete solution for an issue presented by the stakeholders of the event – the St. St. Cyril and Methodius National Library and NALIS (National Academic Library and Information System). The participants will work in collaboration with a mentor during the problem-solving phases of the challenge.
