Description

The Master's program in Social Anthropology delves into the interconnections of contemporary global transnational and multicultural societies, intercultural understanding, and teaches students to explore social practices, political strategies, and cultural meanings. Here, you will study the fundamentals of ethnography and anthropological field research methods, contemporary theories of social anthropology, ethnicity, migration, identity politics, and other subjects. You will also have the opportunity to learn more about topics that interest you from the list of elective subjects: from gender, medical, and visual anthropology to urban, food, and nutrition anthropology. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to obtain a certificate in "Intercultural Understanding" from Southern Illinois University (USA) as part of your studies. The certificate will be awarded alongside your VDU diploma. After completing these studies, you will be able to work as an intercultural understanding consultant, researcher, and analyst in various projects, migration, asylum, and refugee affairs services, intercultural institutions, international organizations, foundations, human resources, public opinion, and market research fields. You will also have the opportunity to further your studies in a doctoral program.

Anthropology offers a unique lens that transforms how we see and understand our world. Unlike any other discipline, it provides tools to decode the complexity of human experience across cultures, making the unfamiliar familiar and the familiar extraordinary. As program head, I invite you to join us in this intellectual journey that will forever change how you understand society, culture, and ultimately, yourself.

Dr. Eugenijus Liutkevičius Lecturer

Personally, this science helps me understand the world around me - why we live the way we do; why we have certain customs or traditions; where all of this comes from... It's a science that encourages questioning everything.
