Online Roundtable Discussion “Ukraine’s cultural diplomacy in times of war”

2134

Scholars at Vytautas Magnus University (VMU), where politics and law are taught next to art and theater, are studying the power of cultural diplomacy and a variety of its aspects. Even though diplomacy and war are often seen as opposites, one does not stop in the face of the other. Diplomacy at times of war takes different shapes and explores new avenues.

In February 2022, as the world fixed its gaze on Ukraine, cultural diplomacy became a valuable tool for Ukraine to let the international community know about its suffering existence, to reveal its authentic cultural power, and to attract widespread sympathy and support.

The success of the Ukrainian cultural diplomacy in times of war will be examined at an on-line roundtable discussion, which will be held on November 28 at 13:00 – 15:00 EET.

The speakers will be:

  • Svitlana Fomenko, Director of the Ukrainian Cultural Center in France
  • Arūnas Gelūnas, Director general of the Lithuanian National Museum of Art
  • Frédéric Ramel, Professor of International Relations at Sciences Po, Paris

The link to the event will be provided upon registration.
