On 23rd of May 2025 (Friday) at 5 p.m., we invite you to a live concert titled “Music Lab”, featuring students of the Music Production programme at the Faculty of Arts and their guests. The concert will take place in the VMU Faculty of Arts courtyard (Muitinės g. 7, Kaunas).

The first year students Music Production students Airinga Šapalaitė, Aistis Rimša, Emilis Kazlauskas, second year students Kristupas Januševičius, Goda Jurkauskaitė, Aistė Rasimavičiūtė,  and third year students Eglė Arbutavičiūtė, Lidija Bakutytė, Matas Čėsna, Jonas Pakutka, Deividas Šriupša, Džiugas Tvaravičius, Agnė Vaitkevičiūtė, Dominykas Venckevičius and Regimantas Žukas will perform and present their works.

We are pleased with the cooperation between our students across different study programmes. Karolina Lebednykaitė, a student of Creative Industries, in collaboration with Otilija Žikas and Emilis Kazlauskas, students of Music Production, will present their new song “Temptation”.

The concert will start at 5 p.m. with a traditional joint work by the students of the Academy of Music and Music Production, performed by a string quartet. This year the quartet consists of Alanas Užemeckas, Gabija Simutytė, Martyna Kalendraitė and Kristina Zubrickaitė, who will perform “Embers in Frost” by Deividas Šriupša, a third year student of Music Production. We are glad that the concert programme traditionally includes works by students from other VMU Faculties. This year, we will present the composition “Island of Discoveries” by Tadas Petrulis, a VMU graduate from the Faculty of Social Sciences.

In addition to individual performances from 6 p.m. onwards, the concert programme will also feature larger ensembles and rock bands. One of the latest projects is a second year student collaboration featuring Anastasiia Tsukur, Simas Akucevičius, Kristupas Januševičius and university guest Martynas Pinaitis. Also performing will be the bands “Ketera” and “Retnea”, presenting original compositions and an energetic stage programme. These bands will take the stage around 7.30 p.m.

This year’s concert will also have an international dimension, with performances by the Erasmus partners Filip Orrhult and Krenar Sejdiu from Linnaeus University (Sweden) They have created a joint song “Plains” with our first year students Ignas Ragaliauskas and Martynas Buslius, which they will perform during the concert. Filip and Krenar are currently completing a study internship in Lithuania, during which they have implemented this creative project as a basis for their internship, under the guidance of composer Titas Petrikis.

The final part of the “Music Lab” concert, beginning at 9 p.m., will be more tranquil in sound, but no less immersive in content. Third year students will present their semester’s composition work, featuring larger-scale pieces performed live on stage, in video clips or in performance forms. These works reflect the young composers’ creativity, conceptual thinking and ability to work across diverse musical styles and formats.

According to Titas Petrikis – composer, head of the Music Production programme, and the concert’s curator – “Music Lab” is like a mini music festival where music lovers gather and new talents emerge. He adds, “We are delighted that students are actively involved in the programme’s activities. It is especially exciting to see this concert serving as a launching pad for their transition to major stages and creative projects. This is also demonstrated by the success of our graduates’ creative activities – both in Lithuania and abroad. We wish them all the best.”

The concert is free of charge. We invite you to attend!

The event will be photographed and/or filmed; therefore, please note that you might be featured in photos or videos which can be published in various media outlets.
