International Celebration of Students’ Creations to be Held at VMU

On Friday 6 May, 5–8 p.m., international celebration of students’ creations, “Europe in the City: Kaunas”, will be held at the VMU Centre for Research and Studies (23 V. Putvinskio g., Kaunas).
The event will invite all residents and visitors of Kaunas to watch short performances by students and artists, and to appreciate the works created during their brief but memorable time in Kaunas. Important cultural operators and artists from other countries will come to Lithuania to meet with the visitors of the event: Spanish poet and writer Rosa Cuardo Salinas, Polish painter Hanna Grzonka-Karwacka, Bulgarian historian of modern culture Alexander Kiossev, Estonian graphic designer Allan Kukk, the internationally acclaimed Polish film director Andrzej Cichocki, and the Mexican dance expert, dancer and teacher Adrian Carlo Bibiano.
The list of Lithuanian lecturers who will work with the students is equally impressive: writer Sandra Bernotaitė, professional photographers Prof. Romualdas Požerskis (who has just received Honorary Professor’s degree from VMU) and Associate Professor Dr. Tomas Pabedinskas, media artist and lecturer Prof. Dr. Rimantas Plungė, and Lithuanian composer and composer of soundtracks for a variety of films Prof. Dr. Titas Petrikis.
The festival takes place on 4-8 May. The T4EU European Festival of Culture, a major cultural celebration open to the public, invites young people to see culture through the eyes of young people and to see Kaunas city and district in a different light.
Organised in Vytautas Magnus University, the event will bring together almost 200 representatives from 6 partner countries: Germany, Bulgaria, Estonia, Italy, Spain and Poland. The activities, organised by art and culture professionals, will explore the city and district of Kaunas and the various European cultural symbols that are spread throughout it.
On Friday, the event will include an opportunity to wander around the university premises and observe various artistic installations of sound, dance, art, literature and other arts, listen to works performed by the masters of the Academy of Music, and enjoy a treat offered by the organisers and sponsors of the event, as well as socialise with students.
