173

Borders and their crises are a frequent phenomenon of the recent decades: from the U.S. and Mexico to the Russian war in Ukraine. This topic will be discussed during the forum Borders in Crisis: Border Struggles and Border Violence in a Global Perspective, which will take place in Germany and online on 11-12 May. The forum is organised by the Transform4Europe partner Saarland University. Online registration is required.

During the forum, topics related to borders and their crises will be discussed from American, European, and global perspectives. On the first day, scientists will present their works within the framework of American Studies Graduate Forum. Ukrainian scholars will present a study dedicated to the issues of country borders in Ukraine, Europe and North America.

On the second day, the participants will discuss the first day’s results and keynote speech will be given by renowned border, migration, and globalization scholar Prof. Dr. Saskia Sassen, Robert S. Lynd Professor of Sociology and Co-Chair of The Committee on Global Thought, Columbia University and Centennial visiting Professor at the London School of Economics.

The forum will take place during the T4EU Mobility Week at Saarland University and online. During the week, two discussions will be held on quantum computing and intercultural competence.
