For Community – Events Celebrating Re-establishment of VMU

On the occasion of the centennial of the founding of the University of Lithuania and the anniversary of the re-establishment of VMU, the University community is invited to events commemorating these special days on April 28-29.

April 28 (Thursday)

At 10 a.m., Holy Mass will be held at the Christ’s Resurrection Church in Kaunas.

1:45 p.m. Laying of flowers at the Freedom Monument and the tomb of the Unknown Soldier
(At the intersection of Vienybės a. (Unity Square), K. Donelaičio g. and S. Daukanto g., Kaunas)

2 p.m. Solemn meeting of the Senate
(VMU Great Hall, S. Daukanto g. 28, Kaunas)

VMU Honorary Professor regalia will be awarded to Prof. Romualdas Požerskis and awards will be presented to community members.

6 p.m. Concert “Vivat Universitas!”
(Kaunas State Philharmonic, E. Ožeškienės g. 12, Kaunas)

The concert will be performed by a joint symphony orchestra of students and alumni of VMU Music Academy and students of Juozas Naujalis Music Gymnasium (conductor Prof. Jonas Janulevičius), VMU Academic choir “Vivere Cantus” (head Assoc. Prof. Rolandas Daugėla), and students of the Singing department of VMU Music Academy. Online registration is required.

April 29 (Friday)

9 a.m. Student conference “Freedom to Create 2022”
(VMU Multifunctional Center for Research and Studies, V. Putvinskio g. 23)

At the conference, VMU students will present their scientific, artistic, and creative achievements to the university and the city, thus leaving an imprint in the century-long history of the university. More information.
