On March 11, Lithuania’s Independence Restoration Day, the 31st annual festival of Kaunas’ higher education institutions art ensembles, “Ei, studente, sukis vėju!” (in English “Hey, Student, Spin Like the Wind!”), will take place.

This year, the festival is organized by the Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) Arts Centre, with the hosts being the VMU folk dance ensemble Žilvitis and the VMU Agriculture Academy folk dance ensemble Sėja, accompanied by the folk music band Ūkininkas.

First held in 1994, this year’s “Ei, student, sukis vėju!” festival will once again bring together talented performers. In addition to VMU’s Žilvitis and Sėja ensembles with Ūkininkas, the audience will also enjoy performances by the Lithuanian College of Engineering (LIK) folk dance ensemble Pušynėlis, Kaunas College (KK) folk dance ensemble Kaukas, Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU) folk dance ensemble Džigūnas, Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU) folk dance ensemble Ave Vita, and Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) folk art ensemble Nemunas.

Dedicated to celebrating Lithuania’s Independence Restoration Day, the festival will showcase the country’s rich folk heritage. Lively folk dances full of youthful energy will enchant the audience and invite everyone to tap their feet, while traditional melodies will touch every heart.

“Ei, studente, sukis vėju!” will take place on March 11, 2025, at 3:00 PM in the VMU Great Hall (S. Daukantas St. 28, Kaunas). The event is free and open to the public.

The event will be photographed and/or filmed; therefore, please note that you might be featured in photos or videos which can be published in various media outlets.
