University Fee Reduction Competition Open for Applications
VMU has launched an open competition for university fee reductions for spring semester of the academic year 2026. The purpose of the competition is to achieve the mission of socially responsible university by reducing social exclusion, creating appropriate financial conditions for VMU students to be accommodated and (or) study (taking into account different social (material) situations, study results and (or) accommodation in the dormitory) and increasing engagement in the activities implemented by the University community, encouraging the choice to study at the University, promoting the pursuit of the highest academic achievements and active participation in the University activities.
The 51st KBS Symposium Will Be Held at VMU
The Call for Abstracts for the 2026 KBS Symposium is now open. The 2026 meeting in Kaunas, Lithuania, taking place from 1 to 5 June, will be a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together, share new insights, and reconnect. We warmly invite all colleagues engaged in alcohol research to take part in the 51st Annual Alcohol Epidemiology Symposium of the Kettil Bruun Society.
A call for early-career researchers: “My First Research Team”
Vytautas Magnus University announces a call “My First Research Team” which is addressed to 9 early‑career researchers - Principal investigators (PI). The announced call creates conditions for nine researchers to establish their first independent research groups and implement independent research projects.

“It’s very sad to see businesses that lack creativity. These are often large, overgrown organisations run by technocrats with no wings, no drive,” says entrepreneur Gediminas Kvietkauskas, who ranks among the 500 wealthiest Lithuanians. A philologist by vocation and an engineer by education, he sees business as a creative project, because where there is no creativity, there is no freedom to advance.

“Could we really, and would we want to, entrust artificial intelligence with resolving disputes? Law is not mathematics, where applying a formula yields a single, clear answer, as we all know that two plus two equals four. What formula should be used to decide which parent a minor child should live with? Can a computer impose a sentence on a person who has committed a crime?” asks Marius Bartninkas, Chairman of the Kaunas Regional Court, when speaking about the use of artificial intelligence in judicial proceedings.
VMU to Host Screening of ‘Bucha’
On Thursday, 22 January, at 3:30 p.m., screening of the film Bucha and a meeting with the film’s protagonist Konstantin Gudauskas will take place at VMU Senate Hall (S. Daukanto g. 28).
