VMU Lithuanian Emigration Institute Celebrates Its 30th Anniversary
This year marks 30 years since Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) began conducting research into the history of the Lithuanian diaspora. In November 1994, the Emigration Studies Centre, later renamed the Lithuanian Emigration Institute (LEI), was established at VMU. Over the past three decades, it has become not only a renowned institution in Lithuania and globally for collecting and preserving the archival heritage of the diaspora but also a research centre for the cultural, political, and scholarly heritage of the Lithuanian diaspora, having established strong connections with Lithuanians worldwide.

VMU Study Programmes in Communication Are the Best in Lithuania
VMU offers the best study programmes in the field of communication in Lithuania – they are well-aligned with societal and labour market needs, take into account the growing demand for communication specialists, and the academic staff are highly qualified. Additionally, the university fosters a strong research culture. These conclusions were presented by an international expert panel from the Centre for Quality Assessment in Higher Education (SKVC).

A New Project LUMA Seeks to Develop Gender Equality and Equal Opportunities Measures at Vytautas Magnus University
From November 2024, a new project focusing on gender equality and equal opportunities has started at Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) and will last for 18 months, until April 2026. The project team – project leader Laura Lapinskė, VMU Equal Opportunities Coordinator, and Natalija Mažeikienė, Professor at the Department of Social Work and Senior researcher at V. Kavolis Transdisciplinary Research Institute, will implement activities and various measures to help create a safe, healthy, inclusive, respectful, considerate and tolerant environment and to ensure equal opportunities for all members of the university community.

VMU Assoc. Prof. Liudas Glemža Awarded the Kaunas City Science Prize
On 12 November, the Kaunas Municipal Council approved that one of this year's two Kaunas City Science Prizes be awarded to Associate Professor Liudas Glemža, a historian at Vytautas Magnus University (VMU).

Youth Think tank took place at the VMU Ukrainian Centre in Vilnius
On the 22nd of November, 2024, another Youth Think tank took place at the VMU Ukrainian Centre in Vilnius. This is a British Council-supported initiative which brings together Ukrainian and Lithuanian youth to engage them in meaningful discussions. The Youth Think tank connects Ukrainian and Lithuanian youth with high-ranking officials and experts from various fields, creating a platform for meaningful exchange and hands-on learning about European values.

The student survey Teaching and learning evaluation has been launched
At the end of each semester, all students of bachelor, master, integrated and professional studies as well as free movers are invited to share their opinion about teachers’ and their own work during the study courses. The Autumn semester survey has started at University, and it will be open until the 23 of December.
