VMU invites to events of Mother Language Day
On 20-21 February, Vytautas Magnus University invites the community of VMU and Transform4Europe alliance to join its events dedicated to the UN-announced International Mother Language Day. The theme of the events is “My tongue is my uniqueness: dare not to disappear”. The events are dedicated to VMU's presidency of the T4EU Alliance.
“It Is Undignified for a Lithuanian Not to Commemorate Independence”: The Traditions of Celebrating February 16th in the Diaspora
“In 1924, ‘Draugas’, the oldest newspaper published outside Lithuania, issued an invitation urging the celebration of February 16th, declaring it ‘undignified for a Lithuanian not to commemorate independence.’ This date marked a turning point for the Lithuanian diaspora, symbolising pride not only in Lithuania’s ducal era but also in the nation’s liberation from Tsarist Russian oppression in 1918,” says Dr. Asta Petraitytė-Briedienė, historian and researcher at the Lithuanian Emigration Institute of Vytautas Magnus University.
Kino Pavasaris and VMU invite to a screening of The Lovers on the Bridge
In 1995, one of Lithuania’s most significant cultural events, the Kino Pavasaris festival, was born. Its very first screening featured Leos Carax’s iconic 1991 film, The Lovers on the Bridge (Les Amants du Pont-Neuf), a poignant story set against the backdrop of a Paris under repair, where two lonely souls find each other.
The 18th Conference of Baltic Society of Sport Sciences
On behalf of the Baltic Sport Science Society and Vytautas Magnus University, I am honoured to welcome you all to the 18th Annual Conference of the Baltic Sport Science Society (BSSS), organised and hosted by the Department of Sports and Physical Education of Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas, Lithuania, on 28–30 April. The annual event brings together teachers, research fellows, doctoral and master students from higher education institutions in the Baltic States and other countries around the world.

The VMU Debate Club Re-established Last Year Celebrates Its First Achievements
"Even when a busy Friday prevents us from holding a meeting, club members gather at a café and practice debating on their own. This shows that the VMU Debate Club has already become a community that grows and inspires one another to improve," says Nojus Ridzevičius, the coach of the recently re-established club.
