Competition for VMU Graduate Ignas Bielevičius Nominal Scholarship
Mr. Ignas Bielevičius, a graduate of Vytautas Magnus University (VMU), Faculty of Informatics, who graduated from his Bachelor’s studies in 2009, established two nominal, one-off, annual scholarships of 500EUR for VMU students. The purpose of these scholarships is to financially encourage students for their good study results and active participation in scientific and/or social activities.

Free online lecture about Lithuanian Language and Culture
In January of 2021, Vytautas Magnus University organises online Lithuanian Language and Culture Winter Course. The gloomy January in the background of the pandemic is a great month to learn Lithuanian, getting to know its culture and history. Nowadays, foreigners and world Lithuanians can learn Lithuanian in their own countries, at the comfort of their home, outside, in their cars or on a ship. From the States to the faraway Australia, from Lithuania to Japan: people meet in these courses united by the inspiring goal to learn all things Lithuanian.

New Disability Coordinator Starts Working at the VMU
In setting its strategic goals to increase accessibility and ensure equal opportunities for all members of the community to participate in the academic and community life of the university, Vytautas Magnus University has restored a position of Disability Coordinator, which will now be held by Ms. Miglė Janušauskaitė.

Contest for Teaching Visits under Erasmus+ programme
Contest for Teaching visits under Erasmus+ programme for 2020-2021 spring semester is open. Realization period for visits is from February 1st, 2021 until June 30th, 2021.

VMU Alumni Day 2020: Strengthened Communication with the Alumni
While continuing traditions, on November 13th, 2020, Vytautas Magnus University invited its graduates to remember their Alma Mater. Due to the difficult pandemic situation in the country, Alumni Day was celebrated through the remote communication platforms. The main theme of this day was to emphasize the importance of physical, but not social distance, by remembering the initiative “Mind the Gap”.

President Adamkus Prize to be Awarded for Environmental Achievements
The person of President Valdas Adamkus and his achievements are inseparable from his environmental protection career in the Region 5 of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency: the largest of all EPA regions. At the time, this region included 20 percent of the country’s population, a quarter of its industry, and even larger amount of pollution problems. And all of this took place alongside the largest source of freshwater: the Great Lakes.

The student survey “Teaching and learning evaluation” is underway
The University has launched the student survey Teaching and learning evaluation in 2020 autumn semester. In the end of each semester all the students of bachelor, master, integrated and professional studies are invited to share an opinion about teachers and their own work during the semester study subjects.

VMU Establishes Support Fund and Will Accept 50 More Belarus Students
Continuing an initiative dedicated to Eastern Partnership countries, VMU will accept 50 more students from Belarus who feel unsafe in their country, are being persecuted for civic and political reasons, and have been expelled from Belarusian universities. VMU will establish a support fund for these students.

Online seminar “The future of the Baltic Sea”
On 9th November, at 1 p.m., there will be an online lecture-discussion “The future of the Baltic Sea” with Commissioner, responsible for the environment, oceans, and fisheries, Virginijus Sinkevičius, member of the European Parliament Liudas Mažylis, and Vice - Minister of Environment Justina Grigaravičienė.
