Sport and Health Week – get active with the VMU Sports Centre

On 4-8 April, the VMU Sports Centre is organising a Sport and Health Week to celebrate International Health Day and the 100th anniversary of the University of Lithuania. On all days of the event, the Sports Centre will invite the university community to be physically active and socially responsible. Physical activity is a preventive measure against many non-communicable diseases. The World Health Organisation (WHO) recommends that at least 150 minutes of physical activity per week is necessary to maintain good physical health.

On Wednesday, March 23, a solemn meeting of the Senate was held at the VMU Great Hall, during which nominal scholarships, Vytautas Magnus University doctoral diplomas and insignia, and Professor's and Associate Professor's Certificates were awarded. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Ričardas Krikštolaitis, Chair of the VMU Senate.

One year ago, the Center for Baltic Studies was solemnly opened at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, in collaboration with the Embassy of Lithuania in Ukraine, Vytautas Magnus University and the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports of the Republic of Lithuania. At the opening ceremony, it was emphasized that the establishment of such cooperation is of great significance: at first the ideas coincide, and later, their wise and creative development results in long-lasting, significant, and important works. Today, in the capital of Ukraine, hundreds of teachers and thousands of students of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv defend their homeland and its capital. Some of the male and female students have become soldiers of the regular Ukrainian armed forces, others have joined the ranks of territorial defense, and hundreds have engaged in various voluntary activities.
