Honorary Consul General of Lithuania in Japan visits VMU
On July 11, Japanese delegation visited Vytautas Magnus University. The delegation consisted of the Honorary Consul General of Lithuania in Japan, Mr. Shigehiro Komaru, Rector of Fukuyama City University (FCU) Toshiyuki Sato, Secretary General of Shibuya Ikueikai Foundation Mr. Hideki Anai, and the Ambassador of Lithuania to Japan, Aurelijus Zykas.

VMU Awarded Honorary Doctorate to Ukraine’s Pres. Volodymyr Zelenskyy
Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) has bestowed the title of Honorary Doctor on the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The title has been granted to him for extraordinary leadership in the fight for Ukrainian freedom, democracy, and humanist values hereby presenting the young generation with the best example of dignity, determination, and moral strength.

Internship in Tenerife – A Lifetime Journey and Enriching Experience
“If you haven’t gone abroad during your studies, it’s your biggest mistake. An internship abroad can become the journey of a lifetime. It’s absolutely essential,” says Agnė Staupelytė, who studied in Finland under the Erasmus+ programme and also undertook internships in Vilnius and Tenerife. Next year, the third-year student of Pedagogy of Primary Education and Early Foreign Language Teaching at VMU Education Academy is set to undertake an internship in Tokyo, Japan.

What Are Innovative Teaching Principles In Modern Universities?
On May 31 – June 1, VMU Professional Competence Development Center organized an innovative training – „Trends in Hybrid Education“, which was attended by teachers and non-academic staff of Vytautas Magnus University. The training was conducted by two experienced international trainers and innovative teaching experts – Drs. Roelien Wierda and Ron Barendsen (MEd), who are lecturers at NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands and have extensive experience in Innovative Pedagogies, Universal Design for Learning, CompetencyBased Learning, STEAM education, ICT tools, Blended and Hybrid Learning and Design Thinking.

MSU Assoc. Prof. Sikorska: We Need to Think About Ukraine’s Future
"We still have an ongoing war, and there are days when we are very pessimistic, [it seems like] this horror will never end. On the other hand, we understand that someday any war can finish and we need to think about rebuilding and restoration, and higher education sector and our country", says Assoc. Prof. Iryna Sikorska, Head of the Center for International Education at Mariupol State University (MSU), who recently visited Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) and discussed cooperation opportunities. Both universities are members of the European university alliance Transform4Europe.

Launching Horizon Europe project DIACOMET
Is it possible to ensure societal and media ethics standards in communication? How to reduce the spread of hate speech and disinformation on the internet? These and other questions will be addressed by the new EU-funded project called DIACOMET, which will be implemented by Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) in collaboration with partners from 8 European countries. Journalists and the public will be able to learn more about the project at the kick-off event in Kaunas on June 13-14. Among the event participants is Aidan White, the founder of the Ethical Journalism Network and former General Secretary of the International Federation of Journalists.
