Launching Horizon Europe project DIACOMET
Is it possible to ensure societal and media ethics standards in communication? How to reduce the spread of hate speech and disinformation on the internet? These and other questions will be addressed by the new EU-funded project called DIACOMET, which will be implemented by Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) in collaboration with partners from 8 European countries. Journalists and the public will be able to learn more about the project at the kick-off event in Kaunas on June 13-14. Among the event participants is Aidan White, the founder of the Ethical Journalism Network and former General Secretary of the International Federation of Journalists.

Hundreds of Scientists to Discuss Baltic Affairs at Conference
As the war continues in Ukraine, what role has been played by the Baltic region countries, which have experienced "vicarious identification" with Ukrainians and their pain? How can we help museums quickly respond to emergency situations, when artwork is being destroyed? In today's Europe, what role is played by the Baltic region, which is located on the continent's edge and constantly experiences turmoil? These and other questions will be discussed by scientists from all over Europe in the international conference Turning Points: Values and Conflicting Futures in the Baltics, which will be held on 15–17 June at Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) in Kaunas.

VMU Invites Students to a Meeting With Prof. Birutė Galdikas
Birutė Marija Galdikas, a world-renowned anthropologist, conservationist, and the world's foremost orangutan researcher of Lithuanian parentage, will be visiting Lithuania. She is a specialist in modern primatology, nature conservation, and ethology, and the author of books on endangered orangutan species.

VMU Athletes Won 45 medals at the SELL Games in Tartu
The 38th SELL Student Games took place in Tartu, Estonia, on 19-21 May, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the start of the SELL Student Games in 1923. The 38th edition of the Games was attended by almost 1,000 students from Croatia, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, and Turkey. The Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) delegation consisted of 69 athletes, who brought back to Kaunas a rich baggage of awards, winning 45 medals in ten different sports.

VMU Staff Week: Fostering Global Collaboration and Knowledge Exchange
On April 24-28, the International Cooperation Department of Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) organized an international Staff Week, which was attended by 140 teachers and non-academic staff from 43 countries who came to VMU under the Erasmus+ mobility programme.
