VMU Invites Students to a Meeting With Prof. Birutė Galdikas

Birutė Marija Galdikas, a world-renowned anthropologist, conservationist, and the world's foremost orangutan researcher of Lithuanian parentage, will be visiting Lithuania. She is a specialist in modern primatology, nature conservation, and ethology, and the author of books on endangered orangutan species.

VMU Athletes Won 45 medals at the SELL Games in Tartu

The 38th SELL Student Games took place in Tartu, Estonia, on 19-21 May, commemorating the 100th anniversary of the start of the SELL Student Games in 1923. The 38th edition of the Games was attended by almost 1,000 students from Croatia, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, and Turkey. The Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) delegation consisted of 69 athletes, who brought back to Kaunas a rich baggage of awards, winning 45 medals in ten different sports.

On April 24-28, the International Cooperation Department of Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) organized an international Staff Week, which was attended by 140 teachers and non-academic staff from 43 countries who came to VMU under the Erasmus+ mobility programme.

For the first time this year, Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) announced a competition for scholarships for scientific or artistic achievements for VMU students, which aims to encourage students to pursue scientific or artistic activities.

PhD students are invited to participate in the Transform4Europe Week in Bulgaria, which will be held on 26-30 September at the Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski. Application deadline is 18 June. 

Contests for Teaching and Training Visits under Erasmus+ Programme

International Cooperation Department invites all VMU academic and non-academic staff members to participate in the Erasmus+ contests: the contest for Erasmus+ teaching visits in Programme countries (EU/EEA countries) and the contest for Erasmus+ teaching and training visits in Partner countries (non-EU/EEA countries). The visits will be conducted in the 2023/2024 academic year.

"We have many friends, many relatives in Russia, as we all Ukrainians have. Of course, they support us but I think it's not enough. It was a great disappointment of my life. There are 140 million people just doing nothing. When the war started, we became intolerant of Russians, and I don't know how many generations [it will take until] this intolerance will end. From one point of view, it's very scary because it's hate, but it's understandable, after what they did in my country", says Assoc. Prof. Olena Suzdalieva from Mariupol State University, who visited Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) and held lectures for students.

Walk/Run Challenge to Celebrate 100 Years of VMU Botanical Garden

Continuing the tradition and celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) Botanical Garden, on May 27th the VMU Sports Centre is organising a run/walk dedicated to this anniversary. The main goal is to run the symbolic 1923 m. course in the VMU Botanical Garden.

Young People from Ukraine and Lithuania will Unite for a Discussion

On 23 May, at 3 p.m., schoolchildren and VMU students from Lithuania and Ukraine will gather at the Small Hall of Vytautas Magnus University (VMU). Together with VMU professors Gintautas Mažeikis and Andžej Pukšto, young people will participate in the discussion “Europe and Ukraine – Today and Tomorrow” and launch the “Think Tank” tradition at the University, which originates from the Centre of Ukraine in Vilnius.
