S. Banaitis Scholarship – For Research in Gastronomic Culture

On October 9, the seventh Saliamonas Banaitis Scholarship, named after the signatory of the Act of Independence of the Republic of Lithuania, was awarded to Kotryna Sarapinaitė, a master's student in Central Eastern European and Lithuanian History at the Faculty of Humanities of Vytautas Magnus University (VMU). The scholarship was granted to her for her research into Lithuanian and global gastronomic culture.

With the start of the academic year, Kaunas saw an influx of students, the majority of whom chose to study at Vytautas Magnus University (VMU). In terms of the number of bachelor’s and integrated studies students admitted to universities this year, VMU remains among the leaders in Lithuania, welcoming 1,385 first-year students. More than 8,000 candidates who met the admission requirements expressed their interest in studying in bachelor’s programmes offered at the University, marking a 12% increase from the previous year.

In addition, a double degree doctorate means even more opportunities to travel, participate in events, and gain access to the resources of another university," says Edgaras Dambrauskas, a doctoral student at Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) and Sofia University (SU), both members of the European University Alliance Transform4Europe (T4EU).
