Embassy of Japan Is Organizing a Lecture by Famous Calligrapher

On March 26–28, a famous Japanese calligrapher Atsuhito Takagi will be visiting Lithuania. The guest’s lectures on calligraphy and demonstrations of works at Vytautas Magnus University, Vilnius University and Vilnius Academy of Arts are organized by the Embassy of Japan in the Republic of Lithuania.

The events are scheduled to take place on:

March 26, 3 p.m., at the VMU art gallery "101" (Laisvės al. 53, Kaunas)
March 28, 10 a.m., at the exhibition hall "Titanikas" of the Vilnius Academy of Arts (Maironio g. 3, Vilnius) and 2 p.m., at the theatre hall ("Teatro salė", Universiteto g. 3, Vilnius).

Calligrapher Atsuhito Takagi was born in Funabashi (Chiba Prefecture, Japan). In 1987 and 1989 he received the Yomiuri Shinbunsha Prize, in 1992 and 1996 –  special Nitten awards, given out by the most popular art organization in Japan, Nitten. Since 2004, Takagi is a member of the Nitten organization; he received a Nitten member’s award in 2005. Currently, Atsuhito Takagi is a lecturer at Daito Bunka University in Tokyo and executive director of the Yomiuri Calligraphy Society.

The events are free of charge.
