Rytis Pakrosnis
Vice-Rector for Studies
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rytis Pakrosnis is the Vice-Rector for Studies at Vytautas Magnus University (VMU). He has been affiliated with the university since 1994, when he began his Bachelor’s studies in Psychology. In 1999, he studied at Kansai Gaidai University (Japan) through an exchange program. He later earned a Master’s degree in Health Psychology at VMU and defended his PhD in Social Sciences. Since 2003 he has worked at the VMU Department of Psychology – first as an assistant, then as a lecturer, and since 2016 as an associate professor.
From 2008 to 2015, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pakrosnis served as Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, with responsibility for studies; he contributed to the preparation of the university’s strategic documents and to study quality assurance processes. He is an active member of the academic community, serving on the VMU Senate, the Ethics Committee, the Faculty of Social Sciences Council, study programme committees, and various university working groups.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rytis Pakrosnis is actively engaged in research and professional practice, contributing to the development of psychological science and practice in Lithuania and abroad. He is a EuroPsy-certified psychologist and, since 2001, has worked as a psychologist at the VMU Psychology Clinic, in healthcare, in business, and in private practice. His research interests include the theory and research of solution-focused brief therapy, studies on psychotherapy effectiveness, positive psychology, and issues of students’ psychological well-being. He serves on the editorial boards of scholarly journals, participates actively in international research projects, helps organize and gives presentations at national and international conferences, and conducts professional development seminars. For many years he was a member of the Board of the Lithuanian Psychological Association and head of Lithuania’s national EuroPsy certification committee. He is currently Vice-President and Head of the Research Committee of the European Brief Therapy Association (EBTA) and a member of the Board of the Lithuanian Association for Humanistic Psychology.
