VMU to host Remote Creative Workshop with Playwright Aristide Tarnagda

In March 2024, at the National Kaunas Drama Theatre (Lithuania) a play will come to life on a stage as a part of the international Creative Europe project “Deconfining: Deconfining Arts, Culture and Policies in Europe and Africa” which unites European and African theatre and visual culture artists.
The playwright of this piece is Aristide Tarnagda from Burkina Faso, who writes in French.
Aristide Tarnagda is a widely recognised African theatre artist, playwright and director, the leader of the “Les Récréatrales” festival, he worked in Europe on several occasions: in 2013 he was invited to the Avignon festival with his play “Et si je les tuais tous, madame?”; in 2017 his literary work “Sank ou la patience des morts” was featured in Avignon; in 2019, at Vitry-sur-Seine theatre “Théâtre Jean Vilar”, one of his plays was premiered, and more. In a project, in which NKDT and more than ten European and African theatres are participating, Aristide Tarnagda is writing a play, under which a mixed Lithuanian, NKDT and “Les Recreatrales” (Burkina Faso) festival theatre artists group will stage a play together with Lithuanian producer Naubertas Jasinskas.
While waiting for the premiere, on November 14th and December 7th, at 6 PM, a remote creative workshop will be held in French with ARISTIDE TARNAGDA.
During it, the playwright will invite you to get rid of the usual structure of dramaturgy and approach the drama from a personalised perspective. The workshop is dedicated to students, dramaturgy practitioners, and stage art members from all over the world. We kindly ask participants to have their own creation pieces.
The remote workshop will take place on the Microsoft Teams platform. We invite everyone to register in advance. There are no age restrictions. Duration – 2 hours.
The workshop will be held in French but there will be French language consultants available, who will help to communicate with the playwright.

En mars 2024, le théâtre national dramatique de Kaunas (Lituanie) verra naître un spectacle dans le cadre du projet international « Deconfining: Deconfining Arts, Culture and Policies in Europe and Africa » soutenu par Europe créative qui associe des artistes africains et européens dans le domaine du théâtre et de la culture visuelle.
L’auteur de cette pièce est le dramaturge d’expression française Aristide Tarnagda du Burkina Faso.
Aristide Tarnagda est un artiste de théâtre, un dramaturge et un metteur en scène reconnu. Il dirige le festival Les Récréatrales et a travaillé à plusieurs reprises en Europe : en 2013, il a été invité au festival d’Avignon pour la pièce Et si je les tuais tous, madame ?, en 2017, son texte Sank ou la patience des morts a été lu à Avignon. En 2019, au théâtre Jean-Vilar de Vitry-sur-Seine a notamment eu lieu la première d’un spectacle qu’il a mis en scène. Dans le cadre du projet actuel, auquel le théâtre national dramatique de Kaunas est associé avec plus d’une dizaine d’autres théâtres d’Afrique et d’Europe, Aristide Tarndaga écrit la pièce qui sera jouée par un groupe d’artistes de Lituanie, du théâtre national dramatique de Kaunas et du théâtre du festival Les Récréatrales (Burkina Faso) sous la direction du metteur en scène lituanien Naubertas Jasinskas.
Dans l’attente de la première, des ateliers créatifs en ligne avec ARISTIDE TARNAGDA auront lieu en français les 14 novembre et 7 décembre à 18 heures.
Au cours de ces ateliers, le dramaturge invitera les participants à se défaire des cadres habituels de la dramaturgie et à poser un regard différent sur le texte dramatique. Les ateliers sont destinés aux étudiants en littérature, aux dramaturges en exercice et aux représentants des arts de la scène du monde entier. Les participants des ateliers seront invités à avoir leur texte en main.
Les ateliers créatifs se tiendront sur la plateforme Microsoft Teams. N’hésitez pas à vous inscrire. Sans limite d’âge. Durée : 2 heures.
Les ateliers se dérouleront en français mais des consultants en langue française seront présents pour vous aider à communiquer avec le dramaturge.
