“Hopefully, I will spend the next four years in Kaunas”

Family and friends continually ask me, “Where are you? What are you doing? How did you get there?” To this day, I answer them: “I am in Kaunas, Lithuania! I am writing my master’s thesis! Erasmus+ study abroad program!” Through the University of Haifa, I stumbled upon the Erasmus+ study abroad program. Because of it, I am in Lithuania researching documents in the archives. After ten months, it is still unbelievable to me that I am able to study and live here. While the research aspect is beyond fantastic, those who administer the program made everything possible.

After arriving in Kaunas, the Erasmus+ Chief Specialist helped me in so many ways from obtaining a student visa to enrolling in Lithuanian language courses to finding the most amazing dental hygienist. My experiences in Kaunas have motivated me to apply to Vytautas Magnus University’s Ph.D. program in History and Archaeology.

Hopefully, I will spend the next four years in Kaunas. Hopefully, my family and friends will visit and stop asking me the same questions!
