Molecular biology and biotechnology

Graduate (Master) Studies
Life Sciences
Molecular biology and biotechnology

Description

In this master's study program, you will deepen your knowledge of molecular biology and molecular ecology, practice in the molecular diagnostics laboratory, get acquainted with the main research directions and methods of immunogenetics, and analyze genetically modified organisms. In addition, you will be able to choose subjects that interest you: from molecular methods in forensic medicine to molecular biology of medicinal plants. After these studies, you will be able to create, apply and improve molecular biology and biotechnology research methods, ensure research quality and independently develop new biotechnologies. The available knowledge will allow you to pursue a career in various biotechnological, biopharmaceutical and food industry companies, environmental protection research institutions. You will also be able to continue your studies in doctoral programs in life sciences and related fields.

Since my study years, I have explored three research areas: mitochondrial metabolism, developmental biology, and biomedical image analysis. Each of these areas has provided me with tremendous opportunities for growth. I have acquired not only numerous technical skills but, most importantly, a strong understanding of biological processes. The world is fascinating and worth exploring!

The application of biotechnology methods would greatly contribute to achieving the objectives of the EU Green Deal and the "Farm to Fork" strategy. This would enable the development of more efficient crop varieties, for example, grains that, like legumes, could absorb some of the necessary nitrogen from the atmosphere, thus avoiding the need for additional fertilization.
