Every September, students not only rush to lectures but also seek additional opportunities for self-fulfilment. One way to combine these pursuits is by participating in the University’s student organisations. The student clubs at Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) not only unite students with diverse interests and needs but also provide a space for fruitful discussions, the exchange of ideas and opinions, self-expression, and development.

“Asking me what makes the Italian language exceptional is like asking a farmer how his vegetables are superior to others! Italian, being the most similar language to Latin, has shaped a significant portion of the lexical composition of European languages, which is evident even in languages of different origins, such as English. Such cultural status allows it, to some extent, to serve as a means of communication not only with Spanish and Portuguese speakers but also elsewhere in the world. I always remind people that there are more Italians in New York than Lithuanians in Vilnius,” notes Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) Assoc. Prof. Stefano M. Lanza, an Italian who has lived in Lithuania for many years.

Studying in Korea Opened up a New Career Path

Gabija Saniukaitė, a fourth-year student of East Asian Cultures and Languages at VMU, realised after her bilateral exchange programme in Korea that her first bachelor’s degree was just part of a long-term learning process. She plans to continue her studies in Pedagogy, proving that authentic experiences abroad can open up new and perhaps unexpected future prospects.
