Ukrainian Center to Hold International Conference Marking 3rd Year of War in Ukraine

On Friday 21 February, 12.30–5.30 p.m., international conferenceThree Years, Countless Futures: Protecting Freedom and Ukraine’s Children’ will be held at the Ukrainian Center in the Education Academy of Vytautas Magnus University (31 T. Ševčenkos g., Vilnius) in commemoration of the third year of the war in Ukraine.

The conference will be opened by the patrons of the Ukrainian Center, First Lady of Lithuania Diana Nausėdienė and First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska. Panellists will include VMU professors Šarūnas Liekis and Robert Van Voren.

“We are pleased to invite you to this international forum, dedicated to reaffirming support for Ukraine’s pursuit of freedom, its steadfast resolve to resist the aggressor, and its unwavering commitment and determination to protecting Ukraine’s children and safeguarding their future”, says VMU Vice-Rector for Communication Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vilma Bijeikienė.

The discussion segment of the event will feature two panel sessions, the first of which is titled “Ukraine’s Children – A Future Under Threat”. Experts will discuss the scale and impact of forced deportation, illegal adoption, and the psychological toll on affected families. Contributions from the Ukrainian and international communities will shed light on efforts to locate, return, and reintegrate abducted children.

The second panel, “International Support for Reintegration and Recovery”, will focus on collaborative strategies for trauma recovery, education, and family-centered care, highlighting the pivotal role of international partnerships in rebuilding the lives of Ukraine’s children.

Participants of the panel sessions will include stakeholders across both governmental and non-governmental sectors, such as representatives from the governments of Lithuania and Ukraine, international and non-governmental organizations, as well as experts in the fields of children’s rights protection, education, and social initiatives.
