Researchers and PhD students are invited to participate in research stream, where they will be able to debate Challenges of the European Science in the 21st century, which will divided into three main Transform4Europe themes: Digital transformation and smart regions; Social transformation, Community building and inclusion; Environmental transformation and sustainability. Science conference regulars know that behind-the-scenes discussions are invaluable. Therefore, members of the Transform4Europe universities network will have time for informal exchange of thoughts as well. There are numerous attractions outside the campus prepared, among others: a field trip to Nikiszowiec, a historic district of Katowice, participation in astronomical projection, and a concert extraordinaire by the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra.
Visits of VMU staff will be funded by the Erasmus+ staff training visits programme.

15 students from every Transform4Europe university will meet in the morning hours for thematic classes led by outstanding experts – scientists and teachers representing Transform4Europe universities. The participants will mostly discuss the most important challenges facing our generation. These include:
- digital transformations and smart regions,
- environmental transformations and sustainability,
- societal transformations, community building and inclusion.
Students who will take part in educational activities will be rewarded with ECTS credits, which will be recognized at VMU.
Afternoon activities will include workshops on design thinking, intercultural communication, and effective negotiation, as well as thematic classes during which students will learn more about European values and identity and contemporary challenges to civilization. University of Silesia will demonstrate how to prepare professional film materials, organize trips around the region, and teach our guests how to cook traditional Silesian dishes. There also will be concerts and meetings in clubs and open spaces, other fun activities.
Travel and accommodation costs will be covered for students selected to participate in Transform4Europe Week. Travel expenses may not exceed EUR 380.00. Accommodation costs cannot exceed EUR 65.00 per day.

It is also a unique opportunity to participate in international research teams tailored to the interests of 5 doctoral students from every university of the Transform4Europe.
Doctoral students can expect:
- meetings in an international group of researchers,
- events to establish new scientific contacts,
- initiatives through which you will discover one of the most interesting regions in Poland and its attractions.
Thematic areas that will become the basis for creating research teams:
- Legal tech;
- Robot culture (digital humanities);
- Remains of the former mining activities (geophysics);
- Pollution monitoring / monitoring of biological processes;
- Social transformations.
By participating in Transform4Europe Week, you will become part of our European university network. Doctoral students are going to take part in a debate entitled “The challenges for science in Europe in the XXI century”.
For doctoral students who have a teaching load or work at VMU, a visit to Transform4Europe Week will be funded by the Erasmus+ staff training visits programme. Otherwise, doctoral students will receive funding covering travel and accommodation costs. Travel expenses may not exceed EUR 380.00. Accommodation costs cannot exceed EUR 65.00 per day.
