VMU Will Hold Celebration of New Academic Year

On Wednesday 1 September, at 1 p.m., in the garden of the Vytautas Magnus War Museum, VMU will hold its celebration dedicated to the start of the academic year. The event will include the traditional freshman pledge, greeting speeches by the VMU Rector Juozas Augutis, the President of the Students’ Representative Council Ieva Vengrovskaja and other honourable guests, and a performance by the indie pop band Sisters On Wire.
In Kaunas, VMU’s festive program for the September 1st will begin at 1 p.m. in the garden of the Vytautas Magnus War Museum (64 K. Donelaičio Street), where we will sing the Lithuanian national anthem together, watch the freshman pledge and listen to the greetings by VMU Rector Juozas Augutis, the President of the Students’ Representative Council Ieva Vengrovskaja and other guests. The formal part of the celebration will end with the student hymn Gaudeamus Igitur. At 1.30 p.m., everyone will be invited to gather in the Vienybės Square, where Sisters On Wire will perform.
In Vilnius, a celebration of the new academic year will also be held in the VMU Education Academy (lobby of 31 T. Ševčenkos Street, Vilnius), starting from 10 a.m.
