VIII Baltic Genetics Congress

Abstract

The 8th Baltic Genetics Congress was held at Vytautas Magnus University with the main aim to bring together scientists from the Baltic countries (Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania) from different fields of genetics research. Over 100 participants from the Baltic States, Italy, Norway, Poland and Ukraine took the opportunity to exchange ideas, views and knowledge on population, evolutionary and developmental genetics, epigenetics, bacteria, yeast, viruses, plants, animals and human genetics. During the congress, the participants got acquainted with the services and products provided by the sponsors Thermo Fisher Scientific Baltics UAB, PLACENTA UAB, Inocpectra UAB, Nova Natura UAB, Carlova Consult OÜ UAB, Arm Gate UAB, GRIDA UAB, Genomika UAB and Linea Libera UAB. They also visited the Innovation Agency's stand of Lithuanian life sciences industry achievements, where 7 innovations in the field of health technologies and biotechnologies were interactively presented: artificial intelligence solutions for heart disease diagnostics, DNA editing of genetic scissors, 3D laser microforming machines, 3D pre-operative planning system, a device reducing hand tremors, a unique remote cardiac diagnostics system, and a remote monitoring system for group exercise.
