Abstract: Šiame straipsnyje naudojantis naujausiais kultūros ir sociologijos mokslų tyrimais, filosofų įžvalgomis bei kita literatūra siekiama atskleisti vartojimo kultūros keliamas problemas bei su kokiais iššūkiais šiuo metu susiduria Lietuvos visuomenė, kurioje vartojimo kultūra dar nėra susiformavusi. Detaliau nagrinėjami vartojimo kaip socialinio-ekonominio reiškinio bruožai. Atskleidžiami Lietuvos visuomenėje vyraujantys vartojimo mitai bei populiariausi vartojimo modeliai, analizuojami vartotojų pasirinkimui įtaką darantys veikniai, aptariamos vartotojų etikos ir ekologijos problemos
The article analyses social problems of Lithuanian consumer society and culture. With reference to well-known authors of consumerism studies and sociology, the author discusses major problems of consumer society, such as marketing and advertising persuasion technologies, standardization of consumption and consumerist lifestyle. Lithuanian society moved away from post-socialist state and now social actions in the society are more oriented towards acquisition of goods and property. The necessity of new choices in consumer society leads to confusion. Consumption in Lithuanian society has become the element that structures (isolates or integrates) people in a new way: goods are important for the society as indicators of social status. The level and structure of consumption depend on social class. age, sex and education. The greatest challenge for Lithuanian society is to level spiritual and worldly goods and understand that we are responsible for our attitude towards goods and consumption
