Abstract
This paper analyses the current farm structure in Lithuania, its economic potential, and the future trends. The object of the analysis includes family farms and agricultural partnerships. Using European size units (1 ESU=1200 euro of standard gross margin), it is shown that most Lithuanian family farms (about 90%) fall into the group of very small farms (<4 ESU). Among agricultural partnerships, 21% fall to the large farm group (40-100 ESU),23% belong to the 100-200 ESU group, and 26% fall to the larger than 200 ESU group. Only 15% of agricultural partnerships belong to the small farm group.
