The article describes the literary and cultural activities of Lithuanian intellectuals in the town of Garliava in the end of the 19th century: J. Andziulaitis’-Kalnėnas’, J. Mačys-Kėkštas’, K. Sakalauskas’-Vanagėlis’, who formed the core of the so-called K. Aglinskas’ Garliava literary circle, original poetry, literary translations, journalistic articles and songs, the works which were published in the newspaper “Aušra” (Dawn) in 1885 – 1886 and written by the authors in that place. At that time in Garliava, encouraged by a close J. Basanavičius’ friend pharmacist Kazimieras Aglinskas, gathered poets, members of “Aušra” (Lithuanian patriotic organization). Garliava literary circle had a great influence on the Lithuanian literary press of that time.
Straipsnyje aptariama XIX a. pab. Garliavos miestelyje susibūrusių lietuvių inteligentų literatūrinė ir kultūrinė veikla: J. Andziulaičio-Kalnėno, J. Mačio-Kėkšto, K. Sakalausko-Vanagėlio, sudariusių vadinamojo K. Aglinsko Garliavos literatūrinio būrelio branduolį, originalioji poezija, literatūriniai vertimai – sekimai, publicistikos straipsniai ir dainos – kūriniai, kurie buvo publikuoti 1885–1886 m. laikraštyje Aušra ir rašyti autoriams susibūrus šioje vietovėje. Tuo laiku Garliavoje, skatinami artimo J. Basanavičiaus bičiulio vaistininko Kazimiero Aglinsko, susibūrė poetai aušrininkai. Garliavos literatūrinis būrelis turėjo didelę įtaką tuometinei lietuvių literatūrinei spaudai. Tyrimo objektas: Garliavos literatūrinio būrelio veikla. Tyrimo tikslas: aptarti Garliavos literatūros mylėtojų būrelio literatūrinę ir kultūrinę veiklą.
