Keywords: In 2003 was proceeded the archeological research of Marvelė burial ground in Kaunas. There were investigated 9 horse graves (osteologically there were identified about 18 horses' sceletons). Horse graves were found in the eastern part of burial ground. The horse graves were ascribed to one type of burials: - burial items together with the bones of one or several horses scattered in a definite area measuring 0.7x0.9 - 1.5x1.2m, usually in one or two layers. 0.08-0.2 (mosly 0.12 m) m tick. Horse graves were dated to the 9th-11th centuries. Many of horses contained numerous burial items - bridle bits (2), amber beads (2), stirrups (2), many sheet metal spirals ornamenting the mane, horse bells, many different buckles and others
