Abstract (en)
Optimization problems in optimal process design are considered. A model problem is a typical problem of process design in chemical engineering. The chemical process as well as the economic criteria are modeled by the software package Jacaranda [1]. Several well known local search algorithms have been tested. The unsatisfactory results are commented. Recommendations for model and optimization method development are presented.
