Abstract
Value orientations may be one of the key factors predicting safety on the road, although this relation is under-explored in traffic psychology. The aim of this investigation was to explore the relationships between egocentric and social value orientations and risky driving behaviour among professional Lithuanian drivers. Subjects were 160 professional drivers (age 23-70, mean 45 years). They completed Driving Behavior Questionnaire (DBQ) and personal value orientation survey. The results showed that value orientations (both social and egocentric) have significant relations with risky driving behavior. The more drivers are oriented to values, the less they make mistakes and intentional violations of the road.
