Lietuvoje disfunkcinė šeima apibūdinama pagal vyraujančias problemas: alkoholizmą, narkomaniją, smurtą, vaikų nepriežiūrą, tačiau nekreipiamas dėmesys į disfunkcinių šeimų atsiradimo ir vystymosi procesą. Tokiu būdu pagalba organizuojama tik labiausiai pažeistų šeimų vaikams, kai praktiškai visai šeimai padėti sudėtinga ir pagalbos rezultatai nedžiugina. Nors Lietuvos teisės aktuose detaliai nurodoma, kas turėtų teikti pagalbą disfunkcinėje šeimoje augančiam ir socializacijos proceso sutrikimų patiriančiam vaikui, realybėje šie vaikai lieka be realios, sisteminės ir tęstinės pagalbos. Remiantis atvejo analizės duomenimis ir fokus grupės metodo tyrimo duomenimis, apibūdinamas pagalbos tęstinumo procesas, universalios ir atrankinės prevencijos reikšmė pagalbos teikimo procese.
