The topic of this paper is analogy between Lithuanian folk modes and Gregorian chants, the studies of which have been initiated by Teodoras Brazys, Česlovas Sasnauskas. This study examines musical analogies of modal – dermal structure, rhythm (different length), palaeographic, semiologic aspects, genre, texts and music relation, interpretation, psychology and sacrality between Lithuanian monophonic melodies and Gregorian chants. The annex to the study provides examples of analogies between intonation formulas, that have been detected during study of Lithuanian folk and Gregorian chant modes, as well as examples of Gregorian notation schools, regional diversities of semiotic analogies among notation symbols in dational manuscripts, and examples of analogies, that reveal diversity of folk characters.
