Violation of children’s right in Nigeria with special focus on child sexual assaults

This master’s thesis puts into consideration the violations of human rights in Nigeria with special focus on child sexual assaults. And, also the actions and impacts of IOs in combating the issue. Research problem: the problem of the research is a violation of human rights in Nigeria with special focus on child sexual assaults. Research questions: the research contained five questions that were addressed by the respondents: (1) how International organizations do respond to combat sexual violations against children; (2) what are the challenges of IOs while trying to terminate sexual assaults in Nigeria; (3) have there been any collaborative efforts by the IOs, AU, and Nigeria to end sexual violence; (4) how effective are the measures put in place by the Nigerian government to end sexual violation; (5) what are the challenges sexually abused children face today. Research object: the object of this research is the children’s rights violation in Nigeria with special focus on sexual assaults. The aim of the research: to investigate the roles of International organizations in mitigating children’s rights violations. Methodology: qualitative research methods was used in this research study. Open-ended questions were asked and responded by the respondents through semi-structural interviews, on social media platforms such as Zoom, Facebook, WhatsApp, and Viber, and calls were recorded. Results: the targeted groups were reached, information and perceptions of the respondent attitudes, behaviors after been sexually abused were obtained, data were collected and analyzed which helped to determine the extent of investigating the problem. Human rights violation is still prevalent in many parts of the world today, including Africa despite the global, regional, and national efforts to combat and eradicate this issue. In the African region, Nigeria occupies the highest number of child mothers which was a result of sexual violations. This study looks into violations of human rights in Nigeria with a special focus on child sexual assaults. In this study, qualitative (interview) which were descriptive was conducted to investigate the role, activities, and impacts of UNICEF, UNHCR, UNCRC, NHRC, and NGOs in combating human rights violations in Nigeria.
Šiame magistro darbe atsižvelgiama į žmogaus teisių pažeidimus Nigerijoje, ypatingą dėmesį skiriant vaikų seksualinėms prievartoms. Taip pat - IO veiksmams ir poveikiui kovojant ta kryptimi. Tyrimo problema: žmogaus teisių pažeidimas Nigerijoje, ypatingą dėmesį skiriant vaikų seksualinėms prievartoms. Tyrimo klausimai: tyrime buvo penki klausimai, į kuriuos atsakė respondentai: (1) kaip tarptautinės organizacijos reaguoja į kovą su seksualiniais pažeidimais prieš vaikus; (2) kokie yra IO iššūkiai bandant nutraukti seksualinius išpuolius Nigerijoje; (3) ar buvo dėtos visos IO, AS ir Nigerijos pastangos siekiant nutraukti seksualinį smurtą; (4) kiek veiksmingos yra Nigerijos vyriausybės nustatytos priemonės seksualiniam pažeidimui nutraukti; (5) su kokiais iššūkiais šiandien susiduria seksualiai išnaudojami vaikai. Tyrimo objektas: vaiko teisių pažeidimas Nigerijoje, ypatingą dėmesį skiriant seksualinei prievartai. Tyrimo tikslas: ištirti tarptautinių organizacijų vaidmenį mažinant vaiko teisių pažeidimus. Metodika: šiame tyrime buvo naudojami kokybiniai tyrimo metodai. Buvo užduoti atvirieji klausimai ir į juos atsakyta per pusiau struktūrinius interviu socialinės žiniasklaidos platformose „Zoom“, „Facebook“, „WhatsApp“ ir „Viber“. Skambučiai buvo įrašyti. Rezultatai: buvo pasiektos tikslinės grupės, gauta informacija ir suvokimas apie respondentų požiūrį, elgesį po seksualinės prievartos. Surinkti ir išanalizuoti duomenys, kurie padėjo nustatyti problemos tyrimo mastą, Žmogaus teisių pažeidimai vis dar paplitę daugelyje pasaulio vietų, įskaitant Afriką, nepaisant pasaulinių, regioninių ir nacionalinių pastangų kovoti su šia problema. Afrikos regione Nigerija pirmauja pagal motinų-vaikų skaičių, kurį įtakojo seksualinis išnaudojimas. Šiame tyrime nagrinėjami žmogaus teisių pažeidimai Nigerijoje, ypatingą dėmesį skiriant vaikų seksualinei prievartai. Šiame tyrime buvo atliktas aprašomasis kokybinis (interviu), siekiant ištirti UNICEF, UNHCR, UNCRC, NHRC ir NVO vaidmenį, veiklą ir poveikį kovojant su žmogaus teisių pažeidimais Nigerijoje.
