The research was conducted in 2017–2018 in L. Macijauskas farm, Plokščiai, Šakių r., in the limnoglacial origin heavy loam soil which contains a high percentage of silty fractions in its texture. These soils are wetter and tend to soak more, the decomposition of plant matter in them is slower and, therefore, they naturally contain more humus. However, under intensive agriculture conditions, because of the dynamic circulation of biogenic elements, and a huge loss of them during the harvesting, it is a crucial to choose a suitable crop rotation and periodically evaluate the concentration of humus and total nitrogen in the soil. Having carried out the research, it has been found out that the higher humus content is being accumulated at the upper part of plowing layer (0–10 cm), ranging from 1.96 to 2.95 percent except pea crops. In pea crops, the higher accumulation of humus it was found at the bottom part of plowing layer (10–20 cm), ranging from 2.15 percent in autumn, 3.5 percent in spring and 2.26 after harvesting. The significantly higher content of total nitrogen (0.55 g kg–1) is found in pea crops at the bottom part of plowing layer (10–20 cm) compared to winter wheat crops. The changes of total nitrogen at the upper part of plowing layer (0–10 cm) are not significant.
Tyrimai atlikti 2017–2018 m.
