Straipsnyje nagrinėjama aukštojo mokslo kitimas Lietuvoje atkūrus nepriklausomybę, mokinių apsisprendimo studijuoti aukštosiose mokyklose motyvai, vienos ar kitos specialybės pasirinkimo motyvai, studentų pasiūlymai keisti aukštosios mokyklos gyvenimą, jų materialinės padėties vertinimai ir kt.
In this article the changes of the higher education after the Lithuanian independence reinstatement, the reasons of choosing a high school and embracing of speciality, students' worldly circumstances and other questions are under consideration. While trying to achieve a certain level of society intelligence one has to pay an enormous amount of attention to the perfection of specialists' preparation. Since it is only after receiving higher qualification that the youngsters will be able to successfully integrate into the EU expanse. Also, one cannot undermine the relevance of the research of students' life and their studying conditions, underlining their essential needs as well as inclinations and requests. The change which occurred in the social economic situation triggered the change of the youth's attitude towards higher education. Mainly, resulting in decline in the number of students willing to enter higher educational facilities, during the first years of re-established independence, but starting from 1995/ 96 the number of students seeking higher education increased drastically. Youngsters enter higher educational facilities due to different reasons. Some wish to find possibilities of studying abroad while others hope to find a job there and etc. As the research showed, respondents were choosing higher educational facilities due to desirability of profession and due to the prestige of the educational facility. Among other reasons for attempting higher education students also mentioned: - specialty grants social guarantees; - other places did not provide the possibility of studying for the preferred profession; - were influenced by the family tradition; - it seemed easy enough to enter and study
