Attitude of teachers of household culture and labour towards the chance of application of transformation method in the development of pupils creativity and thinking.
Now that society places exacting demands for personality development upon educators, school, like society in general, regards creativity as a value and feels its duty to cherish it.
The transformation method is an advanced instrument used in the development of pupils’ creativity and thinking. Today society gives school a major task, i. e. to teach in the way that secures human development or, in other words, to provide pupils not only with a certain amount of knowledge or skills but also to form in pupils generalized knowledge and skills enabling them to cope with ever changing situations or with practical tasks they may encounter.
A survey of literature on transformation method indicates that the transformation method is not described in the pedagogic literature exhaustively.
In order to analyse the attitude of practically working teachers towards the chances of application of this method in the process of education, 47 teachers of labour and household culture from Vilnius and Kaunas who participated in the refresher courses were interviewed.
Proceeding from the data received, we can state that practically working teachers recognise the power of transformation method in developing pupils’ creativity, logic thinking, spatial abilities, resourcefulness, aesthetic taste and imagination, however, the transformation method, its principles and variants are insufficiently reflected in pedagogic literature, which narrows the range of application of the transformation method in a comprehensive secondary school.
Summarising the work, it is possible to state that in the development of over all cognition of the world in pupils and in the application of transformation method, major attention should be given to the development of understanding of projective culture, its principles and ways. This belongs to a further area of investigation.
