Vienas iš aktualių švietimo reformos aspektų - specialiųjų pedagogų profesinis rengimas. Ilgą laiką specialiųjų pedagogų profesinio rengimo modelis tenkino valstybės interesus ir buvo vykdomas centralizuotai. Po 1990 m. Lietuvos nepriklausomybės atgavimo prasidėjusi švietimo reformos orientacija į rinkos ekonomikos poreikių tenkinimą sąlygojo naujų specialiųjų pedagogų profesinio rengimo modelius.
One of the main issues of the educational reform in Lithuania is the vocational training of special educators. Before 1990, when independence in Lithuania was restored, a centralised training system of special educators prevailed and was influenced by the Soviet political ideas of marxism leninism. The vocational training reform of special educators going on since 1990, meets the needs of our society. The vocational training of special educators has developed into 2 trends: university (research theoretical) and vocational (practical). The content of the vocational training of special educators has experienced the influence of psycho-educational anf socio- educational attitudes towards the handicap.
