Abstract (en)
The article explores the traditions of romanticism in Cz.Milosz’s poetry. The analysis of his poetic work proves Milosz’s close ties with his homeland, Lithuania. In the poet’s imagination real, actual experiences intermingle with images of the past. The poet metaphorically views Lithuania as a land of happiness. These idealized visions, however, are often obstructed by a brutal outward reality, repre sented by the Soviet autocratic regime. In this way Cz.Milosz seems to echo the most important motifs present in the poetry of Ad. Mickiewicz, as if he wants to write his own modern version of ’’Pan Tadeusz”
