Šio straipsnio tikslas - sistemingiau apibūdinti mažiau tyrinėtą M. Pečkauskaitės pedagoginę ir labdaringą veiklą, atskleisti jos prasmę.
Marija Pečkauskaitė a noble personality inher chidhood and youth was separated from the Lithuanian nation by the Polish language and the customs of the noble. Encouraged by P. Višinskis, a Famous Lithuanian educationalist of the end of the 19th and the begining of the 20th century, she found the way to the life of the Lithuanian nation and took roots there. Deriving her spiritual strength from religion, learning to love one’s neighbour from her mother and herself practising this feeling she naturally matured for a multifarious and meaningful activities. Marija Pečkauskaitė is known as a distributor of Lithuanian press, a teacher, a guardian of the offended, an organiser of charitable activities, an activist of sobriety movement, a diligent assistant in church affairs, a propagator of the newest pedagogical thought and the ideas of Christian pedagogy in Lithuanian, a pedagogue - theorist.
