Straipsnyje nagrinėjama mąstymo samprata, išskiriami svarbiausi mąstymo, kaip pažintinės veiklos, tipai, remiantis literatūros šaltiniais analizuojamos mąstymo rūšys, atskleistos įvairių autorių kritinio mąstymo dimensijos jų interpretacija, išskirti pagrindiniai kritinio mąstymo požymiai.
Conceptions of thinking expressed by different authors are discussed in this paper. Analysis of various kinds of thinking, e.g. operational, visual, conceptual, teorical, practical, realistic, autistic, reproductive, productive, critical, reflective, divergentive, discursive, logical, intuitive, creative, as well as comparison between dimensions of analitic and intuitive, realistic and autistic, productive and non-productive thinking are presented. Exhaustive analysis of interpretations of critical thinking and its dimensions expressed by G. Butkiene and L. Laurinciukiene, R. Kaffeman, V. Gudzinskiene V. Siugzdiniene, T. Stulpinas, G. Nosich, J. Reardon, O. Visockiene, Barnett, Siegel and Paul, Visockiene, G. Nosich, D. F. Halpern, Loboczky, D. Penkauskiene, D. Klooster are presented and discussed. Basic attributes and features of critical thinking are revealed. Critical thinking can be described as purposeful holistic thinking of higher level. Critical thinking can be identified as the reason of changes of a person and environment. It stimulates a person for constant renewal and selfcorrection. Critical thinking should not be understood as negative estimation or critics of something. It is reasonable consideration of various opinions and phylosophy with purpose to embrace legitimate evaluation and decision. The main idea of critical thinking is that unreserved true do not exist and there are no necessity for implicit authority trust.
