Straipsnyje nušviečiama esama anglų kalbos (dalyko) dėstymo / mokymosi proceso padėtis Šiaulių universitete. Apžvelgiama disciplinos raida istoriniu aspektu, ypač jos terminija bei teorinės ištakos. Pagrindinis dėmesys skirtas studentų poreikių ir subjektyvaus esamos padėties Įvertinimo analizei. Identifikuotos tobulintinos anglų kalbos (dalyko) dėstymo / mokymosi proceso sritys. Pabrėžiama specifinių mokymo(si) priemonių stoka, patariama atsargiai vertinti subjektyvią respondentų nuomonę, apibūdinančią esamą situaciją. Tyrimo rezultatai ir išvados gali būti panaudoti tobulinant ir rengiant naują šiuolaikinę užsienio kalbos (dalyko) dėstymo aukštojoje mokykloje programą
The paper is meant to disclose the current situation of teaching / learning process of English for specific purposes (ESP) at Siauliai University. It includes some historical considerations referring to the developments of ESP, especially its terminology, and a theoretical background. The core of the article is students’ needs and current situation assessment analysis and interpretation the aim of which is to lay a motivated background for the development of an appropriate syllabus design in order to improve the present situation of teaching and mastering ESP at the University.
