Mokslo monografijoje išsamiai išanalizuota Kauno Švč. Trejybės bažnyčios ir bernardinių vienuolyno istorija nuo XVI a. pabaigos iki XIX a. II pusės, aptartos fundacijos aplinkybės, bernardinių regula, sudarytos 148 vienuolių biogramos, pateiktas jų kolektyvinis paveikslas, išryškinta ekonominė situacija ir kasdieninis gyvenimas, atskleisti dvasingumo bruožai, reikšmė visuomenei. Taip pat nustatytos ansamblio meninės ypatybės, aptarti išlikę kūriniai. Tyrimas leidžia geriau suvokti Lietuvos Didžiosios Kunigaikštystės bernardinių savitumus bei reikšmę europiniame monastinio gyvenimo kontekste.
The book sets out to show the creation process of Kaunas Bernardine Nunnery; to reveal the merits of the founders Massalski; to identify the Bernardine sisters of Kaunas; to conduct a study of their collective bio graphy; to reveal the features of spirituality based on the Rule of the Third Order of Saint Francis and the constitution; to describe the daily life of the Bernardines; to evaluate relations with society; to reveal the economic situation of the nunnery; and to determine the most important manors and other sources of livelihood. This art study aims to investigate, deepen and clarify the concept of the distinctiveness of the Bernardine church and nunnery ensemble, including the history of its formation, its archi tectural features, a detailed investigation of the changes in the develop ment of the interior, an analysis of the iconographic program and its con nections with Bernardine spirituality, and an assessment of the preserved sacred art heritage and losses.
